Employee Recognition and Rewards

Goal: Texas Cooperative Extension will create a culture of mutual respect, reward, and recognition for employees at all levels.

 

Statement of Support: Extension employees are our greatest investment and greatest asset. It is critically important that we establish an atmosphere in which employees know they are valued.

 

Objective 1: Develop a system to more effectively reward employees.

Strategy

Timeline/Measure(s)

Conduct a Salary equity review of Extension agent's salaries.

2007- 2012: Salary equity review conducted biannually beginning in 2007.

Annual budget requests submitted to County Commissioners Courts will request salary increase consideration for county-funded agent positions, in line with equity plan.

Annual request developed by the district Extension administrator and county staff; reviewed by associate director for county programs.

A merit-based salary increase program will be implemented by Extension management contingent upon availability of funding support.

2007–2009: Biannually reviewed by administration.

The Salary Enhancement Program will recognize individuals that have been successful in the attainment of external resources through contracts/grants and/or fee-based programs and operate in the top 25% of their peer groups.

ANNUALLY.

Extension management will develop ongoing strategies to nominate exemplary employees for recognition of program efforts through various awards programs, including the Extension Superior Service Awards program, Vice Chancellor’s Awards of Excellence, Regents Fellow Awards, administrative leave program, etc.

ANNUALLY.

Extension management will participate in recognition/motivation training for increased recognition efforts, positive feedback, etc., of their employees.

2007–2009: Report made annually to the director.

The Extension Spirit Committee, representative of agency employees, will assist Extension administration in cultivating a sense of value of Extension employees through a variety of strategies, including tenure recognition, promotion of professional camaraderie and open communications, training needs assessment, family-friendly work environment, and report to the director.
